2 Timothy 2

Yesterday we talked about being given the Holy Spirit as a deposit, and the importance of guarding that deposit at all costs. Well this is no ordinary deposit. Normally you would guard a deposit, like in a bank vault, making sure it never leaves the place where it is kept. With the Holy Spirit, you absolutely want to protect his place in your heart; but you also want him to occupy a place in the hearts of those around you!

And the best way to go about spreading this good news, was actually given to us by Jesus himself. He told his disciples to "make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19). If all disciples make disciples, the gospel spreads so much faster than if we all had to hear it from a select group of people.

Paul tells Timothy the same thing: "You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also" (vs 1). This is the idea of creating disciple cycles: teaching others to teach others.

So the question is, are you living this way, the way Jesus instructed us to live? Are you teaching someone not only about God, but in such a way that they are equipped to teach someone else? Think of one person in your life right now, someone who is at least "one step" behind you in their faith. Think about what it would look like to help them become a disciple-maker.
