1 Corinthians 15

It's hard to find a chapter in the Bible which lays out more clearly the gospel of Christ than 1 Corinthians 15. Paul says in verse 3, "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures."

If anyone were to ask you, "What is the gospel?", this would be an excellent verse to begin with. What you will want to explain is that both Jesus' death and resurrection are essential to this gospel. Paul makes it very clear that Christ's death on the cross paid for our sins, but his being raised from the dead secured our place for eternal life with him in heaven.  His death washed away our sins in this life, and we have hope in eternal life because we know he is no longer buried, he is risen.

I see two big questions that jump out from this passage to ask an unbeliever: "Was Jesus who he said he was?" and, "Did he do what the Bible says he did?"  How someone answers these questions will have implications on where they spend eternity.

Will you make it a point to share this gospel with someone in the next week? It doesn't have to be word for word from the text, try asking those two questions I wrote above. Or come up with your own questions to ask. If you have been saved from an eternity of pain and torment in hell, and given a sure hope of eternal life with Jesus, will you not share that hope with others?
