The Corinthians have come upon the knowledge that they are now free to eat whatever they want, they don't have to worry about foods being "unclean." And they are right, we are not bound by pagan rituals that limit our food choices.
But Paul is saying that not everyone knows this yet. So simply having the "right" to do something is not sufficient in doing that thing in a way that pleases God. We must couple that knowledge of what is right with a holy love and affection for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
It is good for us to know what rights we have as children of God, but we must never stop there. We must also ask, "What rights can I give up for the sake of others?"
There may be some things you do that cause friends of yours to stumble. In other words, they can't do those things with a clear conscience. It may be the things you say, or the food you eat, or the clothes you wear, or the movies you watch. Even if you know with certainty that you are perfectly within your rights to do those things, consider sacrificing them because of the love you have for your frinds and your desire for them to have a clear conscience.
